At the LWVUS 2024 Convention, delegates voted to proceed with a study on the federal judiciary. The study will be completed on a fast-track timeline in time for a position to be announced at the LWVUS 2025 Council in June 2025. What that means -- Your LWV AH-MP-BG has formed our local Study Group. You can still join it. Email Margaret at voterservices1@lwvah.org. We will get together hybridly (both Zoom and in person) Feb - April moving forward to make it convenient for anyone interested. Tonight, LWVUS is hosting Town Hall for local Leagues to give background and answer questions on the Study. It‘s best to check that you have Microsoft Teams downloaded before it. Hear from leading experts on this work, pose questions, and get information about the federal judiciary. The Town Hall will be hosted by Microsoft Teams. You can copy this link into your browser to go to download a guide on Microsoft Teams: https://www.lwv.org/league-management/advocacy-litigation/2024-2025-federal-judiciary-study-process-committee-and?utm_source=salsa&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=LU&utm_content=12.26.24&eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=59f431db-e5d1-48fe-a8be-7dbf8558636d It will familiarize you with the platform before the event. You may need to download the platform before the event begins, but you will also have the option to launch Teams on your internet browser. Once you have Microsoft Teams downloaded, here‘s where there is a live link to join the LWVUS Town Hall (copy & paste this into your browser): https://www.lwv.org/league-management/advocacy-litigation/2024-2025-federal-judiciary-study-process-committee-and?utm_source=salsa&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=LU&utm_content=12.26.24&eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=59f431db-e5d1-48fe-a8be-7dbf8558636d LWVUS is running this Town Hall and the Microsoft Teams format.

All interested Members and friends, We need your help to bring the 2025 candidate forums in our area. We are off and running, and we need your helping hands. There is a lot of excitement surrounding November Presidential elections, however, it is our many local elections that determine democracy close to home. Time and again, we hear from neighbors how valuable they find League candidate forums. At this Zoom mtg, you can signup for roles at the planned candidate forums. We will also go over updates, the how‘s, answer any q‘s you have about volunteering, logistics, and other developments with the contested races in our area. Candidate fora are an opportunity for voters to bring thoughtful questions and to hear directly from the candidates on their qualifications, what they think on the issues, and what they plan to do. Our team is preparing for nonpartisan candidate forums before the April 1 Consolidated Election. The candidate forums we hosted this past October were the first in person candidate forums since Covid-19. Each was attended live by over 100 people and posted on our Youtube channel, free and accessible to the public. THANK YOU to everyone who helps us bring Candidate Forums to voters so that they can hear directly from the candidates!
