About this event
Celebrate Black History and Black voting rights advocates! Come join us for a viewing and discussion of the first episode Awakenings (1954-56) in EYES ON THE PRIZE, the acclaimed and definitive series of the civil rights era. Through contemporary interviews and historical footage the series, which recounts the fight to end decades of discrimination and segregation, traces the civil rights movement from the Montgomery bus boycott to the Voting Rights Act. Continue and carry the history into your life by watching subsequent episodes on your streaming service of choice at your own pace.
Season 2 is told from the point of view of ordinary men and women whose extraordinary actions launched a movement that changed the fabric of American life and embodied a struggle whose reverberations continue to be felt today.
Free & Open to the public. Teens welcome. Tweens and older children welcome with an adult.
